On Saturday, September 29, 2018 students and instructors from the Geometry in Construction class at Carl Hayden Community High School visited the grand opening of the first veteran’s tiny house community in Maricopa County. The Village at 13th (V13) built by Build us H.O.P.E (Housing Opportunities Provided for Everyone) is aimed at providing affordable housing for those who need supportive services.

Build us H.O.P.E will be working with Mr. Ronald Schilling and Ms. Jessica Tena, Geometry in Construction teachers at Carl Hayden Community High School, to help their students build a tiny house for a homeless/under-sheltered veteran. According to Mr. Schilling, the grand opening was an eye opener for the students. They were able to see what a tiny home looks like and what they would be building in their class this school year.
