Camelback High School hosted 36 teams made up of 127 six through twelve grade innovators who hacked overnight (19 hours) to solve problems in food sustainability, renewable resources, education & freshwater. Chef CJ from Nello’s worked with the school’s advanced culinary students for the first hack of the evening preparing a 5 star meal and turned the school cafeteria into a fine dining experience!

Keynote speakers from Fortune 500 & Entrepreneur Inc; Josh Elizetxe, Anthony Sarandrea & Maya Hinojos, along with Ted Talk Lecturer Matthew Moore inspired creativity & innovation and challenged students to be bold, confident risk-takers.  A 2:00 am hack dance off and 10:00 am pitch competition lead to the Best Hacks of 2018!

Congratulations to all the participants and a special thank you to all our community partners: AZ SciTech, Gateway Community College, Grand Canyon University, HJ Trophies & Awards, SNOW, Site Flood, McKesson, Shamrock Foods, The Parlor and the Camelback Community Network.

Great job Camelback DECA for creating and implementing this amazing event!
