Construction Competition at Metro Tech

Construction Competition at Metro Tech

There is a lot of building going on at Metro Tech where the Construction Technology program was hosting the Arizona Construction Championship on Friday, February 19th. Over 100 Career and Technical Education students from nine schools around the state are competing in four categories, showing their skills to judges who come from construction companies. The students compete in electrical, masonry, Carpentry, and Construction Tech, a two-person exam. Some of the carpentry students are constructing a frame wall with window, and other teams are building an Adirondack chair. At lunchtime, challenge events will feature a nailing contest (most nails hammered into a board in a minute) and a screw gun contest (fastest five screws driven into a board.)
