Engineering team takes first place at ASU

Team Spokes ‘n Steel, a creative group of Metro Tech engineering students, took first place in the high school division at the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) Awards dinner held at ASU late this spring.

The group one of over 50 high school teams who created a four minute video pitching for funding for their project to construct bike racks for the non-profit Circle the City organization.

With a mission “to create and deliver innovative healthcare solutions that compassionately address the needs of men, women, and children facing homelessness,” Circle the City serves a population whose bicycle might be their most valuable possession. By constructing racks in the shape of the organization’s logo, Team Spokes ‘n Steel will be able to provide a secure means for people in need as they receive healthcare services.
